Arrest made in Rocky Mount's 16th homicide for the year

ROCKY MOUNT, NC (WITN) - An arrest has been made in Rocky Mount's 16th homicide so far this year.

James Butler has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Angela Nelms.

The body of the 49-year-old woman was found shortly before 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Greyson Road. Her body was found lying on the shoulder of the road, according to police.

Police have not said how Nelms died or a possible motive in the case.

Butler is being held without bond.

A death investigation is underway in Rocky Mount after a woman's body was found around 9:48 this morning.

Police responded to the 900 block of Greyson Road for a suspicious event call.

When officers arrived they found an unidentified woman lying on the shoulder of the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating and are encouraging anyone who may have information about the death to call police.
