Road closed in Beaufort due to sinkhole

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WITN) - A sinkhole is creating a bit of traffic trouble in a local town and police are warning the pavement is unstable.

The Beaufort Police Department says a large sinkhole opened up on Ricks Avenue.

Drivers won't be able to use Ricks as a route between Sherwood Boulevard and First Street because of it. And they say the pavement is unstable, so more cave-ins are possible.

Police are urging drivers not to drive around the barricades.
