GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A silent bike ride will serve as a visible reminder about the dangers cyclists face when on the roads.

ECVelo, Pitt County's cycling club, is hosting a Ride of Silence starting at Reade Circle in Greenville Wednesday, May 15 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The ride is part of a nationwide movement to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured and to advocate for safer streets for both drivers and cyclists.

The ride will cover 10 miles and participants will be escorted by police.

Anyone is welcome to ride. Helmets are required and no training wheels are allowed.

A social gathering at Pitt Street Brewery will follow the ride.
