Residents of one Greenville neighborhood being asked to check their vehicles after arrest of man

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Greenville police are asking residents in one area of the city to check their cars after recent vehicle break-ins.

Police say Demale Jones was stopped with numerous IDs and a large amount of change in the area of Willow Street overnight.

We are told the 40-year old admitted to going into about 12 vehicles in the area of the dog park and "The District" apartments.

If you live in the area and believe you have had items stolen from your car, you are asked to contact the police department at 252-329-3404.

Authorities also believe the bicycle that Jones was riding when an officer approached him is stolen.

They are asking the owner of the bike provide a description and/or proof of ownership.

Jones was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond charged with breaking or entering a motor vehicle.
