UPDATE: Woman charged in accident with Pitt County school bus
The Highway Patrol says a woman is facing charges after running a stop sign Tuesday afternoon, striking a passing Pitt County school bus.
Troopers say Annie Wilkens has been charged with running a stop sign.
The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Staton House Road and Daughtridge Drive, north of Greenville.
Pitt County Schools spokesman Dr. Travis Lewis says it involved a bus from Belvoir Elementary School with 24 kids on board.
Troopers say Wilkens ran the stop sign and then "T-boned" the bus, hitting it on the side.
Lewis says one child on the bus received a minor injury, but wasn't taken to the hospital. Parents came to the accident scene to pickup their children, according to the spokesman.
The Highway Patrol says Wilkens went to the hospital complaining of "chest issues."
