Republican Chris Humphrey sworn in as North Carolina House Representative

KINSTON, NC (WITN) - In Raleigh, the General Assembly convenes later this month and Thursday a new member of the House of Representatives was sworn in.

Republican Chris Humphrey was sworn into the North Carolina House of Representatives District 12 seat. People filled the auditorium at Lenoir Community College to see the process and wish him good luck.

Representatives from across the area showed up for support. Humphrey, who is a resident of Kinston, was a Lenoir County Commissioner for eight years and also on the La Grange Town Council for three years.

Humphrey says he was really excited to see the big crowd come out and he says he is ready to get to work.
He said, "The big cities get all of the perks and small towns get left behind."

Humphrey plans to work on rural issues that affect all of North Carolina and specifically Eastern North Carolina.
