RANGERS: Man caught in the act of slashing tires at Cape Hatteras

CAPE HATTERAS, NC (WITN) - Park rangers say they caught a Dare County man slashing vehicle tires on the Outer Banks on Sunday.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore says the arrest happened around 3:00 p.m. at Ramp 23, which is south of Salvo.

Park Rangers and Fish and Wildlife Officers say they saw Richard Perrot, of East Lake, puncturing tires on a Jeep Cherokee.

Perrot will appear in federal court this afternoon in Elizabeth City.

Since the beginning of the year, at least 66 tires have been slashed at beach parking lots. They say most of the vehicles were SUVs.
