Police capture suspect after shooting near Elizabeth City IHOP

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) - Police in one Eastern Carolina city have caught a man wanted for a weekend shooting near their local IHOP restaurant.

Elizabeth City police say they found Dustin Sims around 6:00 p.m. Monday and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and damage to personal property.

The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. Sunday and police say the victim was shot three times.

Sims was jailed on a $100,000 secured bond and has a first court appearance on Thursday.

Police in one Eastern Carolina city are looking for a gunman after a shooting near a local IHOP.

Elizabeth City police say it happened Sunday night around 9:40 p.m.

The victim, a man, was shot three times to his backside, according to police. The victim was taken to Sentara Albemarle Hospital where police say his condition is not known.

Officers are looking for Dustin SIms, of Elizabeth City. The 47-year-old Sims should be considered armed and dangerous, police say. He has active warrants for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries and damage to personal property.
