Player of the Week: Zach Nicholson
Former D.H. Conley baseball player and current Farmville Post 151 first baseman Zach Nicholson is our newest WITN Pepsi Player of the Week!
Zach Nicholson throws out lofty goals.
"[My dream is to] hopefully maybe play in the big leagues one day."
And this summer he's using the long ball to achieve that dream.
"I've just really been working hard, and it's great having some support behind me with my team," Nicholson said.
His team is Farmville Post 151, and despite playing in less than 50 percent of the games so far this season, Nicholson is hitting well over .400 with five home runs.
"He joined us and game one, first at-bat grand slam home run, second at-bat, grand slam home run, and he has not slowed down since," Farmville Post 151 head coach Josh Boberg said.
"Growing up, I've always been told the best part of my game is hitting, and I've just always tried to hone in on that," Nicholson added.
"[Zach has a] great baseball IQ," added Boberg. "[He] plays a good first base and has a very disciplined approach at the plate. He's everything you'd want in a ball player, but he's certainly something every team needs when it comes to a home run, RBI guy. That's Zach for this team."
