Planning continues for MumFest in New Bern
We are a little over two months away from one of the biggest festivals in eastern Carolina that brings in more than 60,000 people for two days of family fun.
The MumFest, October 8th and 9th, is the biggest festival that New Bern hosts and it is one that has continued to grow over the years and this year is no exception. today
Festival co-chair Nelson McDaniel says rides and great food are just a few of the things you can expect to see at the 36th annual MumFest.
McDaniel says, "There are street performers, some with dogs, some with jugglers, magicians, mimes, and musicians, all of that is free."
In addition to performances both Saturday and Sunday-there are also lots of vendors.
McDaniel says, "There will be about 300 vendors, and 30 or 40 of them will be food vendors, but people will be selling all kinds of things and representing all kinds of organizations."
Visitors will also have the chance to see some of the historical aspects that make New Bern so unique.
Craig Ramey with Tryon Palace says, "We thought why not have the gardens open, one of the most beautiful aspects of the city open for people to see, so each year during MumFest we have the gardens open on that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and then we also have our annual plant sale during that weekend."
Coming back for the second year in a row is a big concert on Tryon Palace's south lawn.
The date and line up of artists is expected to be announced very soon.
WITN is once again proud to be a sponsor of MumFest.
