Pitt County Republican Party elects Dr. Perrin Jones to fill seat of Congressman Greg Murphy

The Pitt County Republican Party Executive Committee voted Monday evening to fill the vacant seat of now-Congressman Dr. Greg Murphy with Dr. Perrin Jones.

Dr. Murphy won the Third Congressional District Special Election to replace the late Congressman Walter Jones leaving the 9th NC House District seat vacant.

"Congratulations to Dr. Perrin Jones on his election," stated NCGOP Chairman Michael Whatley. "We are very confident that he will be able to step into this position and quickly become a leader for eastern North Carolina as the Representative for the 9th House District."

Dr. Perrin Jones is a Charlotte native and graduate of the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University.

Jones completed his anesthesiology residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center before going to work for the East Carolina Anesthesia Associates in 2003.

Dr. Jones is a past president of the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists. He and his wife have three children and live in Greenville.
