Pitt Community College holds annual convocation

WINTERVILLE, NC (WITN) Tuesday marked another step in the start of a new school year at one college here in the east.

The annual convocation for Pitt Community College in Winterville took place where several campus leaders spoke about the current state of the college and some of the new initiatives and goals they have for the upcoming year.

One of the topics during the presentation was about achieving the American dream through a community college education, and hearing from students who shared their success stories.

Campus leaders are still working on new and current ways to stay involved in the community both to support various organizations and missions, but also to help their students.

PCC President Dr. Lawrence Rouse says, "We have a very strong apprenticeship program that we're really, really excited about. We're doing a lot of apprenticeships with our local industries and business and that's probably going to expand over the next year or so."

Classes at PCC begin on Thursday.
