Pitt Co. Animal Services selling brick pavers as fundraiser

PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Pitt County Animal Services is offering a unique opportunity to give the gift of a lasting legacy this holiday season while helping animal rescue efforts locally.

The shelter on County Home Rd. is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion project to add kennel and adoption space for cats, dogs and future adopting families.

The brick pavers will line a walkway called "Path for Paws" in the courtyard behind the new building.

Each brick is $50 and is customizable with three lines of text.

Shelter Director Michelle Whaley says they've already sold more than 50 bricks.

The money will be used to pay for raised dog beds and other necessary supplies in the new space.

Many of the bricks sold will be laid in honor or in memory of beloved pets.

"It's really kind of touching. We know that pets have such a unique connection and bond with their owners so its nice to see how people celebrate their pets but also the ones who have passed on... how they also remember them," Whaley said.

The bricks can be purchased online here or in person at the shelter.
