Pets in the Park event sees more than a dozen dogs adopted

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) The city of Greenville is making an effort to get people and their pets outside.

The second annual Pets in the Park event took place at the Town Common Park on Saturday afternoon.

Pet owners and their furry friends enjoyed the outdoors, food, and even tail wagging contests.

The event included music, contests, vendors, and a dog wedding.

The Humane Society hosted an adopt-a-thon to encourage folks to find a furrever friend.

"It's a free event where you bring your own dog out, enjoy the beautiful day, enjoy what Greenville has to offer while helping a good charity and that's just a win win for everyone," said Shelley Binegar of the Curtis Media Group.

"It's important to have people come out and not just adopt dogs but also learn more about being a responsible pet owner," added Bill Koch of the Humane Society.

There were approximately fifteen dogs adopted at Saturday's event.
