Pet of the Week: Atlas

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - This week's Pet of the Week from the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is Atlas.

Atlas is about a 7-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix. He is on the shorter, petite side, but he is full of energy!

Atlas loves the water and often finds a way to "swim" in his water bowl.

Volunteers say he gets along great with other dogs and would make a good doggie companion in any home.

Atlas' brother, Scooby, is also available for adoption.

Volunteers with the humane society also provided an update to Dori Ann, a hound mix who was hit by a car during the hurricane. She was picked up and ended up needing to have her leg amputated.

After surgery, she got an infection and had to undergo a second surgery. Dori Ann is not completely out of the woods yet, but she is slowly getting better at the Firetower Animal Clinic and Pet Emergency Clinic.

The humane society is looking for donations to help with her increasing medical bills. Donations can be made here.

The adoption center is open from 1 pm-5 pm on Thursday's and Friday's and from 9 am-12 pm on Saturday's.

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina brings adoptable animals every Wednesday at 6:25 a.m. on WITN News at Sunrise.
