Tuesday brought more triple-digit heat indexes to Eastern Carolina as some people endure all this heat without any air conditioning.

Terry Harper's air conditioning unit has been broken for two years now, and to make matters worse, the Greenville woman is just out of the hospital.

The 63-year-old suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, which affects the lining of your joints, causing painful swelling.

Harper is also a cancer survivor.

"I'm just in constant pain 24-hours a day," said Harper. "It feels like I'm in hell. It's too hot, that's all I can say to do without an air conditioner.

The Pitt County Council On Aging has provided Harper with fans, and they just got a window AC unit donated to them that they'll soon install at her house.

The senior group says their center has become busy with many people coming in to escape the heat.

It is expected that a heat advisory will be issued again for Thursday, the third day in a row.
