A local man is using his pain for a greater purpose.

Chris Godley, owner of Chris Godley State Farm, tragically lost his twins years ago and received care from the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC. That's why he's teaming up with the non-profit for the first ever Party with a Purpose event.

"The Ronald McDonald House was instrumental in helping what I went through. When I started this process to find a non-profit to help raise money for, the Ronald McDonald House was a great fit," said Godley.

The event is described as a kick off to Christmas, while working to bring awareness to all the Ronald McDonald House does. The party will feature food, dancing and live music from Mikele Buck, who appeared on season 15 of The Voice.

Tickets are $20 and proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House.

The event is happening on December 5 from 6:30- 10:30 pm at the ECU Student Center Ballroom A. on E. 10th Street.
