NEW BERN, NC (WITN) Partners In Education, or better known as "PIE," held their spring luncheon Tuesday in Craven County.
Craven County educators and community officials gathered together at the New Bern Convention Center with proceeds benefiting the teachers and students of Craven County schools.
PIE awarded more than $170,000 through a variety of grants and programs during the 2017-18 school year.
Dr. Cecil Staton, Chancellor of East Carolina, was the keynote speaker. He talked about the importance of education.
PIE President Dr. Ervin Patrick was given an exemplary service award and plaque, as Don Brinkley will assume the presidency.
On a fun note, door prizes were handed out to teachers. Dozens walked away with, you guessed it, pies, made by local businesses.
