Police ID remaining victims in triple fatal car crash

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Police Friday morning released the names of two of three people killed in a fiery crash Tuesday night.

Officers say the medical examiner has positively identified 30-year-old McArthur Ward, of Greenville, and 21-year-old Miland Lewis, of Ayden. They previously IDed Miranda Artis, 29, of Grifton, as the third person killed.

Ward was the driver of the vehicle, according to police.

It happened just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Davis Street and W. 6th Street. They say only one car was involved.

Police say the car was speeding on Davis Street when the driver ran multiple stop signs and crossed over a patch of grass before hitting a tree.

Police say one person was thrown from the car and two others were trapped inside as the car burst into flames.

Officers say 31-year-old Sammie Madlock from Greenville was the only survivor of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
