GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN)- Greenville Police say they've charged two people in connection to a shooting that sent one of the suspects to the hospital this past Friday.
It was Friday just after 1:30 p.m. that officers responded to a shooting on Thackery Road.
Police say that Vasco Atkinson and Takeema Maye have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Atkinson was also given a fire arm by felon charge.
Investigators say that Atkinson confronted his neighbor with a gun and that a struggle ensued. During that struggle, the gun went off and Vasco was hit.
Police say Maye, who is Atkinson's girlfriend tried to break up the fight and fired her gun at the neighbor.
The neighbor was not injured.
Atkinson was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
The case remains under investigation.
Police are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting.

Public Information Officer Kristen Hunter says that a man was injured and taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they have taken a woman into custody who they believe to be the shooter.
Investigators say there was some kind of dispute between three neighbors.
The investigation is ongoing.
