POLICE: Man fires shots at woman chasing him in vehicle after she stabbed him

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN)- Police in the east have charged two people surrounding a domestic situation that included a person being stabbed.

Kinston Police have arrested Anthony Hicks, 21, and Alawisha Fields, 27, both of Kinston.

Hicks is charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharge weapon into occupied vehicle, and assault on female.

Fields is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury as well as obstruction of justice.

On Tuesday, police say they responded just after 3 p.m. to the area of Vernon Avenue and East Street to a report of shots fired. There they found shell casing in the roadway.

During their investigation, police say they discovered Hicks and Fields had been involved in a domestic confrontation with each other.

Police say that Fields stabbed Hicks near North Adkin Street and East Washington Avenue. As Hicks left the scene in a vehicle, police say that Fields gave chase resulting in Hicks firing several shots at the vehicle Fields was riding in.

The pair were eventually arrested by Kinston Police and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Both are being held in the Lenoir County Jail pending an appearance in Lenoir County District Court.
