WASHINGTON, NC (WITN) - A major street in Washington has reopened after a truck brought down traffic signal lights and kept going.
Washington Police Chief Stacy Drakeford says Bridge Street was closed from 3rd Street to West 5th Street for most of the morning.
He says around 7:15 a.m. a truck turning at the intersection of Bridge Street and 3rd Street took out a pole holding up the overhead traffic lights. The chief says the truck never stopped.
Another driver saw the accident, but couldn't provide police with much of a description.
It took the D.O.T. several hours to reset the pole and then string the traffic signals back up and get them working.
