Man charged in connection to violent home invasion
Goldsboro Police arrested a man in connection to a violent home invasion that happened last month.
Vance Roddick, 27, of Dudley was arrested Friday along the 700 block of Bryant Street in Goldsboro.
Roddick is accused of forcing his way into a mobile home on West New Hope Road on Feb. 12.
According to residents, three people forced their way into the home around 8:30 p.m. and shot Kevin Hagans who lived in the trailer.
The residents then fired back at the men and the trio ran from the home, police said.
One of the other three suspects, Ryan Allen, 40, was found with a gunshot wound to the pelvis area in a nearby wooded area. Allen later died in surgery at Vidant Medical Center.
Roddick is currently being held at the Wayne County Detention Center under a $860,000 bond. He is facing the following charges:
- First degree burglary
- Attempted armed robbery
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Police say a man who forced his way into a mobile home Monday night was shot dead, while one of the victims was also wounded.
Goldsboro police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. at a mobile home park on West New Hope Road.
They say Kevin Hagans, who lived at the trailer with his seven-year-old son and another man, was wounded. He was taken to Wayne UNC Health Care for non-life threatening injuries.
The residents told police three people forced their way into the home and shot Hagans. Police say one of the residents fired back and trio ran from the home.
Officers say they found 40-year-old Ryan Allen in some nearby woods with a gunshot wound to the pelvis area. He later died in surgery at Vidant Medical Center.
Police say their investigation into the home invasion and subsequent shooting is ongoing.
