The Pitt-Greenville Airport is getting millions of dollars in grant money to help fund improvements.
Congressman G.K. Butterfield announced a $2.5 million grant awarded to the airport from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The funding will help to make improvements, including to the runway.
The original runway is 25 years old and rehab work is scheduled for next year.
Butterfield and Greenville-area officials have continued to push for an expansion to the airport to help connect eastern Carolina with other airports across the country.
