PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina highway was shut down for most of the morning after a tanker crashed and rolled over.
The Highway Patrol says the tanker was full of water and closed Highway 903 near the Pitt-Greene county line.
Trooper D.A. Swanson believes the water inside the tanker may have shifted. The 18-wheeler, owned by Harris Farms of Snow Hill, slid into a ditch in the 8:45 a.m. crash and then rolled over.
The driver, 41-year-old Allan Harris, of Snow HIll, was taken to Vidant Medical Center for his injuries.
Workers had to drill holes in the tanker to drain the water before crews could upright the rig.
The HIghway Patrol says they're still investigating the wreck. The highway reopened just after 1:00 p.m.
