One seriously injured after van and combine harvester crash

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Authorities are investigating after a van collided with a combine harvester.

Currituck Fire EMS Chief Ralph Melton says it happened on Caratoke Highway near Ferrell Mill Road in Moyock Thursday evening.

Melton says ten people were inside the van. The front passenger suffered major facial injuries and was airlifted to the trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he or she is said to be in serious condition.

Nine other passengers and the combine driver are expected to be okay.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
