MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Mechanical issues grounded a flight headed to Greenville overnight.

A spokesperson at Raleigh-Durham International Airport tells WITN that an American Airlines flight heading from Charlotte to Greenville made an emergency landing at the airport due to mechanical issues.

Twenty-one people were on the plane, which landed shortly before midnight.

Officials say one person was checked out as a precaution, but was not taken to the hospital.

The aircraft is still being inspected at RDU.
