NEW INFO: Man killed in Rocky Mount shooting identified

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) A man shot and killed Sunday afternoon in one Eastern Carolina city has been identified..

Rocky Mount police say the shooting happened outside a gas station on Cokey Road around 4:30 p.m. Sunday

Officers say Daniel Pierce, 22, of Rocky Mount was pronounced dead in the business’ parking lot.

Police have not announced a motive in the murder nor have they released any information on the gunman.

One person is dead after a shooting that occurred early Sunday evening outside a Rocky Mount gas station.

The Rocky Mount Police Department confirms they responded to a report of shots fire in the 1100 block of Cokey Road around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon their arrival, responding officers located a single victim in the parking lot.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say that they are currently investigating leads in the case.
