An inmate was taken for outside treatment after a fight between two inmates broke out at the Tyrrell Prison Work Farm Friday afternoon.

No officers were involved or hurt during the fight and the prison was not placed on lockdown, North Carolina Department of Corrections communications officer Jerry Higgins.

One inmate was taken for outside treatment, but returned to the prison later that same day, Higgins said. The inmate was not admitted into the hospital.

Officials are currently investigating the fight and prison operations are running as normal, Higgins said.
