NC MedAssist hosted a free Over the Counter (OTC) medicine give-away event on Thursday in Duplin County.

Individuals and families could pick up $100 worth of free first-aid supplies and much-needed medicine like allergy relief medication, children's Tylenol, cold medicine, band-aids and much more.

In June of 2016, NC MedAssist served over 1,000 individuals at a similar event.

“We are honored to bring an OTC Give Away Day back to Duplin County, thanks to Vidant Duplin Hospital,” said Executive Director Lori Giang. “NC MedAssist is excited to work with the community to give back to our neighbors in need. Through the OTC Give Away, we will be able to reach more and more individuals and educate them on our free pharmacy program resources. No one should go without medicine, and this program is enabling us to reach those who are unaware of our services.”

Vidant Duplin Hospital was a sponsor of the event, which was held from 9am-2pm at the Duplin Events Center located at 195 Fairgrounds Dr. in Kenansville.
