LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A man from our state has died after a fishing boat sank in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says three men from Lincoln County were out fishing on the Tennessee River around 10 a.m. Saturday morning when they got too close to the water being discharged from the Fort Loudoun Dam.
All three men went overboard when the boat capsized and were forced under by the falling water.
The local NBC affiliate, WBIR, is reporting that 23-year-old A.J. Re, of Denver, was killed.
The two others on board were 49-year-old Donald McCorkle and 22-year-old Clint McCorkle, who are from Lincolnton. They were both taken to the hospital.
Officials say they believe all the men were wearing life jackets, but the force of the water tore some of them off.
