GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) It's a unique prom night in cities across the country including here in eastern Carolina.
Hundreds of people with special needs hit the dance floor inside St. James United Methodist Church in Greenville.
It's one of thousands of Night to Shine proms going on sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
Volunteers signed up to be dates for the prom goers.
Each reveler was given a corsage and could pose for prom pictures and even pet a therapy dog.
Organizers say the event brings a smile to attendees faces as well for their family members.
Event coordinator Lisa Jordan says, "I think it just hits home about what it means, and the feeling that God is present in this entire building at this very moment, and miracles are being worked out and parents are seeing their children with smiles on their face and it just makes them so happy that everyone can love on their child."
The Night to Shine prom included crowning all attendees prom kings and queens.
