The state has released the names of two DMV officers involved in Wednesday's deadly shooting in Wilson.

Jordan Hill and Christopher Noble are both on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the SBI investigation into the shooting.

The two are DMV License & Theft Bureau inspectors. Hill has seven years, and Noble 15 years of law enforcement experience.

Roy McAllister, Jr. was killed after Wilson police say he robbed and tried to sexually assault an employee at the Wilson County Senior Center on South Goldsboro Street.

Authorities say an employee ran next door to the DMV office to alert them about the robbery.

Police say Hill & Noble came in contact with McAllister about a half-mile away on Jones Street South where he was shot and killed.

Items found on the man belonged to the victims at the senior center, according to police.

It is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings to put those involved on paid leave.

Police say a man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting had tried to sexually assault a senior center employee during a robbery.

Roy McAllister, Jr., of Wilson, was shot about a half-mile from the Wilson County Senior Center.

Two DMV License & Theft Officers have been placed on paid investigatory leave by the state.

Wilson police say shortly after it opened, McAllister came into the South Goldsboro Street center and demanded money. They say he also tried to sexually assault the worker who tried to escape and was then hit about the face.

Several elderly women came in and interrupted what was going on. They were forced into an office, made to lie down and one was robbed of her car keys. Police say McAllister then ran from the center.

The DMV office is next door and a county official said an employee ran there to report the crime.

The SBI says it continues to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Records show McAllister got out of prison on August 12th after serving seven years for an armed robbery conviction from Wilson County. The man also had two previous convictions for common law robbery.

Residents who live near where a fatal officer-involved shooting happened in Wilson are reacting to hearing the news.

Wilson County officials say the Senior Activity Center opened at 7:30 a.m. and shortly afterwards, someone walked into the reception area and was confronted an employee. Wilson Police said an assault and robbery then occurred.

The center is next door to a Department of Motor Vehicles office. Police say a license and theft officer was later involved in a fatal officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of South Jordan Street. The officer was not injured, according to officials with the DMV.

However, Assistant County Manager Ron Hunt says the employee did suffer minor injuries but is doing fine.

Hunt said incidents like this aren’t common for their center and everyone there is in good spirits. He said the seniors have been praying for them and with each other.

“This is a safe place. My own mother attends here,” said Hunt, “It’s just...this is a place of care and compassion. So, I don’t have to tell you that it’s quite upsetting that it happened here today.”

Hunt said the robbery didn’t happen as a result of a security flaw, but county officials will still communicate with the center to discuss safety.

“Never let one incident shape or mold your thoughts about the county we live in,” Hunt said.

Neighbors were also shaken upon hearing of the shooting. Diane Sauls says she received calls all morning and it made her nervous.

Sauls, “I guess they was calling me to see if I was ok since I stay so close to them.

Beatrice Hopkins has lived in the neighborhood for 36 years. She said the shooting made her nervous as well. She heard about it from her daughter in Georgia’s.

“Things go on, but we never had anything like this,” said Hopkins.

Sauls offers her prayers to the family.

“I don’t know who the individual is, but of course, we’re gonna be praying for all of them,” Sauls said.

The center shut down for a day, but will reopen Thursday.
