Dozens of RV homes were badly damaged or destroyed by a tornado in Emerald Isle's Boardwalk RV Park last week during Hurricane Dorian.

Many of the RVs will now have to be repaired, replaced, or demolished. On Wednesday, nearby community residents and business owners from cities like New Bern and Jacksonville arrived to help with that process.

They sent trucks and operators to aid in the Emerald Isle recovery. Emerald Isle leaders and residents appreciated all the support, especially in their time of need.

Emerald Isle Mayor Eddie Barber said, "We really appreciate that as neighbor helping neighbor, and we have promised them that if there's a storm and they need our help, we can be there for them."

The mayor said this is a true showing of communities coming together and the effort will help speed up the recovery process.
