Need continues for Food Bank of Central and Eastern Carolina

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) The Food Bank of Central and Eastern Carolina says it has distributed more than two million pounds of food in the wake of Hurricane Florence.

They still need your help to make sure supplies continue to reach the people who need them, as recovery continues.

The Greenville branch of the food bank is distributing supplies to food pantries in 10 counties in our area. That means that the pantry also needs monetary donations to help pay the cost of running the warehouse and transportation, in addition to supply donations and volunteers.

The food bank's George Young says they're already thinking about future storms. He says, "We're monitoring these storms and also our relief efforts and each day we're talking about where is inventory and where is the greatest need."

Young says they still need volunteers and donations, but your money can also go a long way towards helping recovery as $10.00 provides 50 meals from the food bank.

Supply items most in need are hygiene and cleaning supplies.
