National Forests closes campgrounds statewide due to COVID-19

ASHVILLE, N.C. (WITN) -- National Forests in North Carolina is closing all campgrounds effective Monday.

In a press release, officials say the decision is for the health and safety of visitors and staff.

The closure includes all concessionaire operated campgrounds and all day-use areas associated with those campgrounds.

Campgrounds will be closed until at least May 15, at which point they will be re-evaluated.
