A national advocacy group was in Eastern Carolina ahead of Tuesday's Congressional District 3 Special Election to spur voter outcome.
The local NAACP hosted the Black Voters Matter organization at the Greenville office to encourage people to vote Tuesday.
Leaders with the Atlanta based group say it encourages civic engagement among African Americans and energizes them to maintain an active presence in the community.
Dean Anthony with Black Voters Matter said, "We're really big on empowering people to speak their voice wherever that voice may be. Whether it's to go out to those polls, or whether it's to go out and have signs on the corners, whatever they need to do, we want to make sure we're supporting them."
The group is also visiting community leaders in the state's 9th Congressional District which also has a special election underway.
