NEW BERN, NC (WITN) - One of Eastern Carolina's largest festivals is set to kick off Friday night.
The 39th annual MumFest is scheduled for October 11-13 in New Bern.
The WRNS kickoff concert will take place Friday night at Lawson Creek Park featuring Filmore, Mitchel Tenpenny, and headliner Granger Smith.
Gates open at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $30 general admission and $40 for premium view.
Last year, the event served as a hurricane relief fundraiser after Hurricane Florence devastated much of the area. This year, organizers are dealing with much better weather conditions, but they say the city's resiliency is still as strong as ever.
"New Bern is a resilient community. We've really worked hard to get our community built back and get our economy back. Last year was a great show of resiliency for our community to let the businesses open up, talk about things that were going on and also give people that sense of camaraderie," said Swiss Bear Board Member Buddy Bengel.
The fun continues Saturday from 10 am- 6:30 pm and Sunday from 10 am- 5 pm with vendors, food, rides, and street performers.
If you're headed to the festival, there will be a shuttle service available at Lawson Creek Park every 15-20 minutes to pick up and drop off festival-goers to the main entrance at Hancock and Broad Street.
WITN is a proud sponsor of MumFest.
