NEW BERN, NC (WITN) One of the premier festivals here in the east is just two months away, and organizers are continuing to ramp up their efforts in preparation.
MumFest in New Bern is October 11-13.
The festival is recognized yearly as one of the top family festivals in North Carolina and the fun all officially kicks off on Friday, October 11th with the kickoff concert.
Nashville recording artist Granger Smith will headline this year's show.
Festival goers will see many of the traditional favorites like amusement rides and street performers, but among the new entertainment will be a Cirque Du Soleil style act, as well as large arch constructed of mums right at Union Point Park.
After being the only festival to still go on after Hurricane Florence, organizers hope to see that same surge of visitors.
Lynne Harrakal, Swiss Bear Director, says, "People that maybe would have gone to other festivals locally last year on weekends surrounding MumFest, I'm hopeful will come back to our MumFest, not necessarily that they won't go back to the festivals they loved before, but they had a chance to see what we have to offer here in New Bern, and I believe we'll have a real surge in attendance as a result."
WITN is a proud sponsor of MumFest.
