DMV offices reopen after internet outage

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Many DMV offices that were closed today because of an internet fiber cut have now reopened.

The outage impacted both driver license and license plate agencies in Jacksonville, Kenansville, Maysville, and Wallace. The total area included offices south of Raleigh, including Fayetteville and Wilmington.

The fiber line was cut in the Benson area and DMV officials worked with Windstream to fix the outage. The interruption was also affecting some online driver license and vehicle registration services.

Just after 4:00 p.m., the DMV says about two-thirds of the affected offices were open once again.
