Mount Olive Municipal Airport brings millions to Eastern Carolina
The North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Aviation released a new report detailing the benefits airports have on the local economy and the state as a whole.
According to the report, the Mount Olive Municipal Airport contributes roughly $21 million dollars in revenue to the community.
Mount Olive Mayor Joe Scott, said "we have made great strides in growth at our airport in the past four years.
One of the mayor's goals is to bring the airport more recognition, and into the level he says the town deserves.
The DOT said the state's publicly owned airports contribute more than 52 billion dollars to the states economy and support 307 thousand jobs across the country.
