Montgomery County rape suspect arrested in Pitt County

A Davidson County man wanted in Montgomery County on sex crimes charges has been arrested on those charges in Greenville.
According to a warrant for his arrest, 37-year-old Douglas Alex Austin, of Denton, is accused of raping a Montgomery County girl. It states the alleged incident(s) happened between January 1 and March 9 of this year.
Austin was charged with felony statutory rape of a child less than or equal to 15-years-old and felony statutory sex offense with a child less than or equal to 15-years old in connection with the case. He is being held in the Pitt County Detention Center under three-million-dollars-bond.
Court records show Austin is scheduled to appear in N.C. District Court on the charges on Monday.
