UPDATE: Second suspect charged in connection with murder of missing Craven County man

CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Craven County deputies have charged a second person in connection with the death of a missing Craven County man.

According to the Craven County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Antonio Jones has been charged with felony accessory after the fact to murder for allegedly helping dispose of 22-year-old Deondre Surles' body.

Surles was last seen on September 2nd by his mother, and his body was later found off Staten Road in the Rocky Run community of Craven County.

Investigators say Jones was charged after being interviewed and evidence found during the investigation.

Kion Beatty, 26, has also been charged with an open count of murder.

An arrest has been made in the murder of a missing Craven County man.

Deondre Surles was last seen on September 2nd by his mother. The woman told deputies she saw him get into a black car in the Gracie Farms community.

The 22-year-old man's body was found late Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area off Staten Road in the Rocky Run community.

Kion Beatty, 26, of Rocky Run Road, has been charged with an open count of murder.

Deputies said they arrested Beatty based on interviews, but didn't release any more information on the case including how they believe Surles was killed.
