A hiker that was reported missing on Saturday in the Western Carolina mountains was found after spending the night in frigid temperatures.
Boone police say 67-year-old Frank Sanady walked out of the Pisgah National Forest with rescuers Sunday afternoon.
Rescue crews found Sanady around 11:30 Sunday morning off the trail in a heavily rugged area of Blowing Rock. They say he was exhausted but not hurt.
He hiked the trail alone starting around noon on Saturday.
It took five hours to move Sanady on foot in deteriorating weather because a helicopter rescue was not an option.
