NASH COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A Nash County man who is charged with his aunt's murder briefly appeared before a judge this morning.
Cleavon Williams, 44, of Spring Hope, is being held without bond after his arrest Wednesday.
April Smith also appeared on a charge of accessory after the fact to murder. The 41-year-old woman had previously been released on a $25,000 bond.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said yesterday that Sarah Patterson's body was found in a shallow grave Wednesday morning off West Old Spring Hope Road. Earlier, deputies in Edgecombe County discovered the woman's burned car on Pleasant Hill Road.
The Raleigh woman was last seen alive May 16th in Spring Hope. Her family reported her missing late Monday night.
Authorities haven't said anything about a possible motive or how Patterson died.

Sheriff Keith Stone says Cleavon Williams, 44, of Spring Hope, has been charged with first degree murder, while April Smith, 41, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
The sheriff said Patterson and Williams were related, and that Williams spent 17 years in state prison for second degree murder.
Stone says the woman's burned out car was found before sunrise this morning on Pleasant Hill Road in Edgecombe County.
Patterson's body was then discovered off West Old Spring Hope Road in a shallow grave. The sheriff said at this point they don't know exactly how the woman was murdered.
Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county are asking for your help in locating a Raleigh woman.

The woman didn't show up to work on Saturday or Sunday and a family member says that is out of character for Patterson.
Patterson is 51-years-old, 5'4" tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. She has brown eyes, short brown hair and wears glasses.
Deputies say she was last seen driving her 2010 Honda Accord with North Carolina license tag FBK-8456.
