The U.S. Air Force begins training Monday to test their ability to fly without GPS.

While most people won't be affected, the training does require the military to block GPS signal for short periods of time.

They'll be flying in Down East Carteret County, east of the Marine Corps Outlying Landing Field Atlantic, from 7-9 a.m., Monday through Thursday of this week and next.

While there is little expectation of impact to ground GPS systems like those used in cars or boats, anyone else flying in the area may see a 'loss of signal' type message displayed.

Anyone experiencing this during test periods can call (575) 442-0518 or (575) 430-7443, (575) 491-9840 and (509) 557-5287 to report the issue.
