PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WITN) - An explosive ordnance disposal crew had to be called in after a piece of military ordnance was found on the beach Saturday.
The Pine Knoll Shores Police Department responded to a call at Memorial Park after the military weapon was found on the beach, according to a Facebook post on the department's page.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and the United State Marine Corps' Explosive Ordnance Disposal were called out to the scene to remove the ordnance.
The object was about 2.5 feet long, officials said.
Officials want to remind people that if you ever see anything like this you should never touch it and immediately call 911.
