A man was rescued from a cruise ship off our coast due to health concerns.

The Coast Guard says a man was on the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship when he starting feeling symptoms of appendicitis Monday afternoon. The cruise ship was about 40 miles southeast of Hatteras at the time.

A helicopter crew from Elizabeth City got the man off the cruise ship and he was taken to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.

His name has not been released and there is no update on his condition at this time.
