Man killed while driving to work early Sunday morning

DUPLIN COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A Clinton man has died while driving to work in one Eastern Carolina county over the weekend.

The Highway Patrol says Gregory Weathers died in the single-vehicle crash around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Troopers say the accident happened on Penny Branch Road outside of Warsaw.

The 29-year-old's vehicle went off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left and went off the other side of the road.

Troopers say the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the crash. Weathers died at the scene and the Highway Patrol says speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
