NASH COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Nash County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the officers involved the fatal shooting of a sexual assault suspect earlier this month.

Sergeant John Winstead, Deputy Stan Ricks and Detective Taylor Neal are on administrative duties while the State Bureau of Investigation reviews the shooting, as is standard procedure for any officer-involved shooting.
Jonathan Ramirez, 29, was fatally shot on February 9, 2019.
Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Maudis Rd. in Bailey about a possible sexual assault.
In a press release, the sheriff's office says the responding officers opened fire after Ramirez pointed a rifle at them.
A sheriff here in the east says that a man fatally shot by deputies this weekend was armed with a shotgun with an extended magazine.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone says his deputies got a tip that Jonny Ramirez was involved in the possible sexual assault of a female around 5 a.m. Saturday in bailey.
Deputies went to Maldis Road where the man lives and approached him, which is when Ramirez reportedly pulled out a shotgun.
Sheriff Stone says Ramirez refused commands to drop the weapon and deputies had to defend themselves.
Officials have body cam footage that matches what the deputies say happened.
In a press conference, the sheriff also addressed concerns about the response of EMS to the scene.
"The allegations I heard was that EMS was not called immediately and I think within 14-15 minutes, EMS was on scene,” said Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone.
The sheriff says that the district attorney will release the footage when the time is appropriate.
Officials say that it's believed that bullets that hit a home came from the deputies.
A sheriff in North Carolina says body cameras worn by deputies should show what happened before they fatally shot a man.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone told WRAL-TV that the shooting occurred early Saturday after the man exited a car with a weapon that looked like an AR-15 rifle. Stone said they had received a call about a person with a weapon and a possible assault on a woman.
The unidentified man died at the scene in Bailey, which is east of Raleigh. The three deputies are now on administrative leave. The state is investigating, while the sheriff's office conducts its own internal investigation.
The sheriff's office said in an email that the man who died is Hispanic. It has not released the names or races of the deputies involved.

One man was killed early Saturday morning in an officer-involved shooting.

Chief Deputy Brandon Medina says shots were fired and the man died at the scene.
